12 Ft. Extension With Awesome Outdoor Kitchen

On this existing porch, we added a 12-foot extension with an awesome outdoor kitchen for this homeowner in Satellite Beach, Florida. We built a porch extension a few years ago in Indialantic, Florida, and the homeowner later added a kitchen to the porch.

We are often asked to build or extend an existing porch so the homeowner can install an outdoor kitchen themselves. We provide the structure, which requires a contractor, and the homeowners make the underside personal, either an outdoor kitchen or a larger seating area.

How We Added a 12 Ft. Extension With Awesome Outdoor Kitchen

We began by removing the palm tree to make room for the additional 12 feet of length to the existing porch. Then we poured the slab with footers. We installed 6×6 posts because they are more substantial and add character to the new porch when finished.

We removed the old drywall ceiling and installed insulation with soffit material for the ceiling finish. The vinyl provides a clean, maintenance-free surface that requires cleaning only once every 10 years or so with a hose. In addition to the low-maintenance ceiling, we installed wood-grain PVC on the beams and posts.

The roof was tied into the existing roof with new roof material. We then reinstalled the existing roof tiles. The homeowners had their own person to lay the pavers. We kept the new concrete slab below the pool decking, so the pavers finished at the same height as the pool deck.
