Your Local Palm Bay Roofer

A roofing contractor in Palm Bay who is actually local

Being based in Palm Bay means we can respond quickly to service calls and new roof requests, especially after a storm. Two hurricanes hit Palm Bay in 2004, and many homes had roof replacement after. Those shingles were designed to last about 20 years, and that time is now up, so a large number of those roofs are due for replacement. The roofs we install today are built to a higher standard. Shingle quality has improved and Florida’s building codes were strengthened after 2004, so a new roof should last more than 20 years homeowners got last time.

We have replaced roofs in every quadrant of the city, from the older northeast near US-1 to the newer builds west of I-95. Florida Roofing and Renovations Inc. has roofed the Space Coast since 1980, and Palm Bay is our home turf.

Palm Bay Roofing Conditions

What a Palm Bay roof has to handle

A Palm Bay roof faces intense sun, heavy summer storms, and hard rain, even without the salt air of the beach side. Here is what we plan for on the mainland.

Sun and heat

Inland Palm Bay bakes in summer. A hot attic cooks shingles from underneath and shortens their life. We add ridge vents and off-ridge vents on every replacement, so good attic ventilation lets the roof breathe.

Heavy rain and flooding

South Palm Bay got close to 20 inches of rain in the November 2023 storms. A dry roof starts under the shingles. We lay self-adhered peel-and-stick underlayment, a waterproof layer, over the whole deck. Most roofers only tape the seams.

Wind and code

We nail the deck to Florida code with 8-penny ring shank nails and install the right hurricane straps or clips. That gets your roof through the 4-point inspection and wind mitigation inspection, the checks your insurer uses to set your premium.

City of Palm Bay permits

Palm Bay runs its own Building Department, so permits and inspections go through the city, not the county. We pull every permit under our own Florida state certification.

Homes and Roofs in Palm Bay

The homes and roof types we know here

Palm Bay has a real mix of housing, and each needs a different plan. We work on all of it.

    • 1960s to 1980s concrete block homes across Port Malabar, many with low-slope hip roofs on their original decking
    • Newer master-planned homes in Bayside Lakes and west of I-95 with steeper gable and hip roofs
    • Manufactured and modular homes on the larger southwest lots
    • Small commercial buildings along Malabar Road and Palm Bay Road

We match the roof to the home: shingle, tile, metal, or flat, with the right pitch and detailing for its age and style. If you are in a deed-restricted community, we work within your HOA color and material rules.

Mike and his employees were fantastic! Everything was done as they said it would be, and done on time. They even fixed problems that the roofers who put the previous roof on had screwed up - like building over our dryer vent. It’s so good to have a beautiful roof and to be able to connect our dryer vent properly. Can’t say enough good things about them!

We recently had our lanai ceiling repaired including the removal of cracked and spalling concrete. The repairs included the addition of new rebar and a poured concrete and stucco application. Rich and his crew were very professional in performing these repairs. I would highly recommend them for performing any concrete repairs to anyone requiring this type of work.

Our Florida room needed its original walls replaced, its foundation height increased and its windows and exit door replaced, all while keeping its newer roof. Michael came over to scope out the proposed project. He was friendly, patient, and a good listener. Two other companies had visited and were unwilling to do the project unless we tore off the new roof. Another company gave an estimate without even visiting. We came to a figure with services we wanted. I called his referrals and ALL of them returned my calls. They were quite pleased with their projects. Michael's team was very neat, polite, thorough, and good natured. Now that the project is complete, I miss seeing the team! Additionally, Michael is a great communicator via phone, text, and email. I highly recommend Florida Roofing and Renovations and when I need to replace my roof, I will be hiring him to do that.

Working with Mike and his team was an excellent experience. The quality of their work exceeded our expectations, and every member of the crew was professional and respectful of our home and family. Mike remained responsive to our questions throughout the process and consistently kept us updated on the progress of the project. My wife and I are thrilled with the results of our master bathroom addition and exterior remodel. We have already had several people stop by to ask who completed our remodel, and we are happy to recommend Mike and his team without hesitation.

    Palm Bay Roofing FAQ

Local questions we hear in Palm Bay

Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Palm Bay?

Yes. Roof replacements in Palm Bay are permitted through the City of Palm Bay Building Department. We pull the permit under our own Florida state certification and handle the dry-in and final inspections for you.

How much does a new roof cost in Palm Bay?

A standard shingle roof replacement runs about $400 to $550 per roofing square, which is a 10 foot by 10 foot area. Price depends on size, pitch, material, and any deck repairs found during tear-off.

How long does a roof replacement take in Palm Bay?

Most homes take two to five days, depending on the size and how cut up the roof is. Weather can add a day, since we will not open a roof with a storm coming.

My Palm Bay home is a 1970s block house. Does the roof need special work?

Often yes. Many Port Malabar homes are on original or older decking. We inspect and re-nail the deck to code and replace any rotten plywood with CDX before the new roof goes on.

Can a new roof help with my insurance in Palm Bay?

Yes. A code-compliant, well-documented roof helps you pass the 4-point and wind mitigation inspections insurers require, which can protect your coverage and lower your premium.
