We installed LVL beams on the new columns, followed by wood rafters extending from the house’s exterior wall to the porch beams. Once the framing was complete, including the wood sub-fascia, the 4-ply CDX plywood sheeting could be installed using 8d ring-shank nails.

We then replaced the roof on the main house with self-adhering underlayment and architectural 130mph shingles. On the new porch roof, we installed a self-adhering low-slope roofing system called Flintlastic by CertainTeed.
