Superior Tapered Roof System For Flat Roof

Installing a superior tapered roof system for flat roofs to eliminate ponding water. Tapering on a flat roof helps water drain properly, preventing ponding. Two layers of a self-adhered Flintlastic system ensure no future leaks or ponding-water-related leaks. The tapered roof system is made of ISO board and comes in two common incline sizes: 1/8″ per foot and 1/4″ per foot. For example, a 1/4″ rise every four feet results in a one-inch increase in height. From zero to one inch, in twelve feet, the rise would be three inches. This setup easily meets the code requirement of no ponding water on flat roofs and provides peace of mind that water will shed off quickly.

Superior Tapered Roof System For Flat Roof

As general contractors, we provided estimates for the taper system, hand-framed rafters, and the trussed roof system installed. The cost of a tapered system on a flat roof offers significant savings compared to building a pitched roof with wood trusses and plywood. The savings increase because a mansard roof requires extra framing support to support the weight of a pitched roof built over a flat roof. However, a greater pitch from a trussed roof can improve the home’s curb appeal by enhancing street aesthetics and increasing property value. Nevertheless, the taper system costs less and does not alter the home’s appearance, as shown in pictures of the house roof.

We also replaced the shingles on this mansard roof over a self-adhered underlayment. We used 130mph limited lifetime shingles by Atlas.
