Tile Roof Installed in Satellite Beach, Florida. Pictures show the progress of roof replacement. We removed the existing tile, inspected the wood decking, and replaced any damaged wood. Then TU, which is short for tile underlayment, was installed over the entire roof deck. Metal ridge poles were then secured to ridges rather than wood as the metal stays straighter over time, whereas wood can warp and bow, resulting in cracked hip ridge tile or grout. The new roof tiles were installed directly to the deck using the required screws meeting the code and specs for the beachside.
