Flintlastic SA System

Installing a Flintlastic SA System by Certainteed on a low-slope roof has many benefits. First, the ‘SA’ stands for self-adhered vs other systems that use a torch to apply it. The SA system does not have fumes entering the house as with the touchdown system, nor is there a fire risk. It also comes in various colors, including a very reflective white cool star. Once installed, this product will give the homeowner many years of leak and worry-free enjoyment.

Roof Material

The SA base sheet material is applied to the wood decking, and the SA cap sheet is applied to the base. This roof product is used on low-slope roofs, including flat roofs. Though other manufacturers make a similar product, we have found that the Flintlastic SA System by CertainTeed is the best in terms of installation, duration, and warranty. The CertainTeed Flintlastic SA System roofing membrane is a premium, self-adhering SBS-modified bitumen roofing material suitable for use by CertainTeed specifications for most low-slope roof system applications.

Before this product became available, most roof contractors used torch-down. In addition to the drawbacks of torch-down, some installers would not torch the seams properly. Or not prime the drip edge before installing roof material to the drip edge. Within a few years, the roof material seal would separate at the seams and no longer stick to the drip edge. They were causing the roof to begin to leak. Florida Roofing and Renovations always installs roof material according to manufacturer specifications.
